How a smart thermostat cut a Baku family's heating bill by 18%
Nothing exotic: schedules, geofencing and a thermostat that stops heating empty rooms.
The family kept their combi boiler at a fixed 23 °C all day. We installed a wired smart thermostat, set a weekday schedule that drops to 19 °C while everyone is out, and enabled geofencing so the flat warms up 30 minutes before the first phone comes home.
The numbers
Gas consumption from November to February fell by 18% compared with the previous winter, adjusted for the slightly colder weather. Comfort improved too — the bedroom is now cooler at night and warm in the morning.
What it cost
Thermostat, installation and configuration came to 480 AZN; the saving pays it back in under three winters.
