Renovation checklist: the wiring you will thank yourself for
Cables are cheap during renovation and expensive afterwards. Plan for the home you will have in five years.
- Neutral wire to every switch box — smart dimmers need it.
- Ethernet to the TV wall, office and hub location — Wi-Fi is for phones, not for cameras.
- Ethernet and 12 V to every camera position, inside and out.
- Power to the door frame for a wired video doorbell and smart lock.
- Speaker cable to the ceiling in living room, kitchen and terrace.
- Cable to each window for motorised blinds.
- A dedicated space for the hub and network — a small cabinet with power and ventilation.
